Counterterrorism tops SAARC Conference agenda


ISLAMABAD: The 3rd conference comprising Home Ministers from member countries of SAARC is underway here in Islamabad on Saturday, Geo news reported.

The issue of counterterrorism tops the conference’s agenda together with implementation of recommendations sought to enhance cooperation among member countries in key sectors including anti-terrorism.

Federal Minister for Interior Affairs Abdul Rehman Malik is chairing the conference being attended by Home Ministers from India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives and Bhutan.

Several other top government officials from member countries are also present on the occasion.

The conference is mulling over enhancing cooperation for anti-terrorism, anti-smuggling drugs, anti-money laundering, immigration and police system.

A joint declaration will be issued at the end of conference.
