SCB moves against Awan for funds misappropriation
LAHORE: Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) announced to resort to take legal action against Federal Law Minister Dr. Babar Awan for squandering the national exchequer, Geo News reported Wednesday.Addressing a press conference at Lahore High Court Bar, the SCB Secretary Raja Zulqarnain said Babar Awan wants to take political leverage by distributing the funds apportioned for the Bars.
He demanded the funds specified for the Bar Councils and Associations be made part of the budget, adding the extravagant misuse of funds cannot be allowed to buy the lawyers.
Zulqarnain remarked Awan is distributing funds among individuals not to the Bars, daring him (Babar Awan) to give away awards from his own pocket if he was really an affluent person and a son of some Arab Sheikh.
The SCB Secretary said Babar Awan is spending lakhs of rupees to pay the fares of his chartered planes from the Bar Associations’ funds.
The present rulers, who are products of the NRO, are security risks and have been put in place from without, he added.
