Pakistan lodges protest with Afghanistan over Dir attack


ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday, alleging that Afghan-based Taliban attacked on a Pakistani checkpost in Dir, has urged NATO, Afghan forces and ISAF to take action against cross-border militancy against Pakistan, Geo News reported Thursday.

Expressing anger on Taliban attack, Pakistan today (Thursday) summoned Afghan envoy to foreign office and lodged with him strong protest over the incident, according to foreign office spokesman Salman Bashir.

He said that Afghan Taliban carried out the deadliest attack on the security forces’ checkpost inside Pakistan in Dir area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province from Afghanistan, killing 34 people including 28 policemen and another six civilians.

He stressed on International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), Nato and Afghanistan security forces to chalk out a plan to eliminate Taliban’s cross-border terrorism against Pakistan.

FO spokesman said Afghan Taliban devastated villages, schools inside Pakistan.

It may be mentioned here that nearly 45 Taliban militants were killed in the retaliatory action by Pakistani security forces following the attack on checkpost.
