Captives to reach home by June 20: Burney
CAIRO: Hostages in the captivity of Somali pirates would reach homes by June 20, this was said by Chairman Ansar Burney Trust International and former federal minister for human rights, Ansar Burney after attending a meeting here today.
The Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden hijacked MV Suez on August 2, 2010, with 4 Pakistani, 6 Indians, 1 Sri Lankan and 11 Egyptians on board.
International Ambassador for Peace and Human Rights, Ansar Burney, further said that $2.1 million have already reached in the bank account of the shipping company and a plane has also been chartered to deliver the ransom money to the pirates.
Burney said that if the situation in Yemen deteriorated further the captives would be brought to any nearby port. He refused to give any precise date for the release citing security reasons.
The Governor of Sindh, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, on Sunday telephoned Ansar Burney and discussed current situation.
