SC seeks explanation from FBR in Odho case

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has summoned the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman on Wednesday (today) over the release of actress and All-Pakistan Muslim League member, Attiqa Odho.

Sources informed Daily Times that the inspector general of Police Punjab had, in a report submitted to the court through the Rawalpind RPO, maintained that customs authorities did not inform local police about the incident. In the report, the Airport Security Force (ASF) director general submitted that two bottles of liquor were seized from the luggage of Odho and that the ASF had referred the matter to the Customs for legal action.

The sources further said that the Customs had not registered a criminal case against her as the value of the bottles was less than Rs 0.3 million. ASF officials had seized two bottles of wine from Odho’s luggage. She had been disembarked from a plane at Islamabad airport, afterwards.
