Severe heat wave grips country
ISLAMABAD: The Met office on Wednesday forecast mainly hot and dry weather in most parts of the country during next 24 hours, as a severe heat wave grips the country.
However isolated dust-thunderstorm with rain may occur in North East Punjab, South Eastern Sindh, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas during the next 24 hours.
Widespread rain/thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected along Sindh-Makran coast from Friday to Monday.
Met Office informed that day temperatures of northern areas are also increasing gradually. Warm and hot weather is also predicted in the northern areas during the next few days.
The abnormally high temperatures of northern areas may trigger large-scale snow melting during the week. Due to snowmelt, the flow of water in the hilly streams and local rivers of Gilgit-Baltistan and Malakand Division -- especially in Gilgit, Chitral and Swat rivers - is expected to increase from mid-week.
The highest maximum temperature, 51 C, was recorded in Larkana and Sibbi. The temperature in other cities were Islamabad 39 C, Lahore 41 C, Karachi 35 C, Peshawar 43 C, Quetta 38 C, Multan 45 C, Faisalabad 41 C and Murree 27 C. (APP)
