7 more die as violence continues to plague Karachi

KARACHI: The wave of target killings that began in the metropolis on Monday could not be brought under control through political efforts in four days, as seven more people became victims of violence on Thursday.

Today’s killings in various parts of the city have pushed the total number of people falling prey to the targeted killings over the four days to 41.

The fresh spate of violent activities had erupted in Orangi town on Monday and continued to plague the city unabated for the past four days.

The meeting of the core committee comprising representatives of People’s Party, MQM and ANP, and assurances of every possible cooperation for establishment of peace and taking out of peace rally in the affected areas failed to make any difference as the violence spilled over to other parts of the city.

Gunshots filled the air in Saddar, Ghas Mandi, Lyari, PIB Colony, Malir, Saoodabad and North Nazimabad.

Armed men set a storage house on fire in Saddar while enraged people attacked a fire station, injuring two firefighters.
