Islamabad admin issues flood alert
ISLAMABAD: Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed reviewed the flood contingency plan in the wake of up-coming moon soon rains in a meeting on Saturday and finalised necessary preventive arrangements to deal with any likely flood situation in a befitting manner.
Ahmad chaired the meeting, besides SSP Tahir Alam Khan, officials of Rawal and Simly dams, met office, civil defense, health department, assistant commissioners and other related departments. Ahmad informed the participants that a control room had been set up in office of ADC (G) Islamabad with telephone No 9261504 which was round the clock functional. He directed all the departments to maintain close co-ordination with the administration in the wake of rains and timely sharing of information. They were also directed to prepare their contingency plans immediately.
The management of Rawal and Simly dams was asked to ensure cushion of 10 feet in the dams and during discharge of water an announcement would be made two hours before the release the water. The CDA teams were urged to visit the catchments areas adjacent to the dams and inform public about the safety measures. staff report
