Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan agree to boost cooperation

TEHRAN: Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran, on Friday, agreed to expand and strengthen trilateral cooperation for peace, stability and development in the region.

This was agreed during a trilateral meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Friday.

The three leaders agreed that terrorism was a big hurdle in the way of regional development and must be tackled and eliminated through enhanced cooperation. It was also concurred to promote trade and economic activities within the region. The leaders also expressed their resolve to find indigenous solution to the regional issues. President Zardari is in the Iranian capital on the invitation of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad to attend a global summit on combating terror to be held on Saturday. Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad agreed on Friday to make collective efforts to eliminate terrorism. app
