Judiciary is accountable for providing justice: CJP
* Justice Chaudhry says executive, legislature and judiciary should not interfere in the jurisdictional domains of each other

KARACHI: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said on Saturday that all institutions of the state were bound to perform their responsibilities within the limits of the Constitution of Pakistan.
“The Judiciary is accountable for providing justice to the nation, especially helpless and deprived people of the country and it is working hard to meet the people’s expectations, he said at his keynote address to the First Pakistan Judicial Summit on Criminal Justice System, Prosecution and Investigation organised by the Sindh High Court (SHC) and Sindh Judicial Academy (SJA) at a local hotel here.
Chief Justices of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Islamabad High Courts; District and Session Judges from all over province, a large number of Additional District Judges, Civil Judges and Judicial Magistrates, representatives of districts bar associations and advocates were also present on the occasion.
CJP said that the executive, legislature and judiciary should not interfere in the jurisdictional domains of each other, adding, an independent judiciary system is very important to execute the rule of law in the country for providing justice to the helpless and deprived people of the country.
He said any developing society could not develop until the justice is not available. He said in those societies where uncertainty existed, disbelieve also occurred there and democracy also not rose up, adding, by such situation people ultimately suffered.
The chief justice said the judiciary is the guardian of the Constitution and people’s rights, adding the cooperation between bar and bench could be enhanced through academies.
The CJ SHC highlighted the role, aims and objectives of the summit to further improve the functioning of the judicial academies. Later, the CJP launched the website of the Sindh Judicial Academy and the case flow management system kiosks of SHC.
The website has especially be meant for the judicial officers while e-kiosks will made available to the public at various public points, specially at the premises of the courts so that they get information about the progress of their cases and other details.
On the occasion, Chief Justice of Federal Shariat Court Justice Agha Rafiq Ahmad said in his speech that it was the responsibility of everyone person of the judiciary that he must got trust of people, adding, it could be possible when they would follow the law and the Constitution and provide justice without any discrimination.
Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Mushir Alam said in his address that he believed this unique gathering of celebrities and leaders from Judiciary, Judicial Academies, legal fraternity, investigation and prosecution agencies had for the first time come at this platform. He said today’s event would go a long way to establish more to eliminate inexperience and insufficiency amongst all the institutional partners responsible to dispense justice.
Justice Alam further said that the bell for justice rings the moment crime is committed or and trust is breached, adding, in the criminal case it is activated by lodging first information report with the prosecution; then the is responsibility passed on to investigation and from there the ball ends up in the court of judiciary.
He said it is common knowledge that whenever there is sensational crime it immediately attracts the attention of ever-live media and public at large. Public is now more conscious and expect that speedier then speedy justice is done and culprits be brought to book forthwith, he added.
