Federal, provincial MQM ministers resign

ISLAMABAD: Two Federal and one State Minister from the MQM have tendered their resignations, Geo News reported. The Ministers, Dr Farooq Sattar, Babar Ghauri and Dr Nadeem have sent their resignation letters to President Zardari.

Speaking to Geo News, Dr Sattar said that the government is giving them dictation and now that they are in the opposition, they would pursue the government to solve the problems of the people.

He added that the MQM in the past was a coalition partner in the Federal and Sindh governments, but they were never treated like coalition partners.

Dr. Sattar said that in the past three years, they were never consulted on key decisions and the MQM could no longer work on dictation.

“We are in the opposition now and the government should respect us”, he added.

On the other hand, fourteen MQM ministers have sent their resignations to the acting governor of Sindh.

The ministers and advisers submitted their resignations in the chamber of MQM’s parliamentary leader in Sindh Assembly, Syed Sardar Ahmed.

While talking to media, MQM leader Raza Haroon said that the decision to split from the coalition government is firm and that the ministers have resigned in protest. He said that the dictatorship cannot be tolerated any more.

Haroon thanked the MQM leadership and Raabta Committee for the ministry responsibilities given to him. He also thanked MQM chief Altaf Hussain for trusting in the abilities of the resigned members.
