US to provide support to KP radio stations
Staff Report
PESHAWAR: The US will provide technical assistance to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government-run FM radio stations along with improvement in their managerial, operation and production capabilities under a letter of agreement (LoA) signed at the Chief Minster’s House on Monday.
KP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti speaking at the occasion said that his government was “well aware” of the importance and outreach of radio broadcast and that “is why it had allocated funds in the annual development programme for the establishment of as many as 24 FM radio stations throughout the province”.
The chief minister said the radio stations would be run with the involvement of the local communities so as to bring their problems in the limelight. “We are fully aware of the genuine needs of the people at the grass-root level and are committed to solve their problems.”
Constance assured Hoti of her government’s full support to develop local media aimed at helping the public in KP and FATA.
