Statement on Siahcen was misinterpreted: Ahmed Mukhtar
ISLAMABAD: Former Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar said his statement on Siachen was misinterpreted and he meant to say that both Pakistan and India would benefit from the resolution of the issue.
In an interview to BBC Urdu, Mukhtar said the armies of both Pakistan and India were the biggest hurdle in the resolution of the Siachen issue.
Mukhtar added that both Pakistan and India wanted the issue to be resolved. When asked why Pakistan would not take the first step,
Mukhtar replied that India being the bigger country should show large heartedness and come forward for a resolution.
In reply to another question, Mukhtar said that neither Pakistan nor India had anything to gain from Siachen and this was just an issue of ego.
