Certain elements are out to mar peace: Ebad
KARACHI: In spite of challenges, there exists immense potential for investment in the province, especially in Karachi.This was pointed out by Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan while talking to a delegation of under-training officers of the National Institute of Management, which called on him at the Governor House here on Saturday.The governor was of the view that foreign investors were heading towards the city for investment in various sectors and the government of Sindh was trying its best to make available the required facilities in this regard.He informed the delegation that for attaining economic development, it was necessary that an annual growth rate of at least five to six percent be attained and that there should be substantial increase in this every year so that there be prosperity and development in the country.Ibad said that we should offer attractive incentives to foreign investors as well as the required facilities.He said that the demography of Karachi is different from other cities and its problems are also peculiar. The governor said that there were certain elements that are out to try and mar the peace in the metropolis. He stated that for the enforcement of the local bodies system, all the stakeholders were serious for the implementation of the Supreme Court’s directives and that soon a better solution would come to the fore. Ibad said that for improving the high education system, efforts were continuing for the past many years and that was why Karachi University is among the top 500 universities in the world. “Many private and public sector universities in Sindh are among top 300 universities in Asia.” app
