Human rights activists meet two Kohistani girls
KOHISTAN: Human rights activist Farzana Bari who is accompanying the team sent to bring the Kohistani girls to the Supreme Court said Thursday that there was evidence that the girls were alive.Bari added that she had met two of the girls Amina and Shireen however they could not be presented before the Supreme Court on Thursday.
According to Bari the girls were safe and had no fear of being killed.
Meanwhile human rights activists Riffat Butt who is also accompanying the team confirmed these reports while speaking to Geo News. Butt said the team while inform the Supreme Court of details when it arrives in Islamabad. According to Butt, one of the girls Amina told her that they did not know when the video was made.
The three other girls live on the other side of a mountain and it will take the team another day to reach them, Butt said.
A Jirga in the village of Palas, Kohistan, had convicted six people for clapping and singing after a videotape of them was circulated.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhamamd Chaudhry, heard a suo moto case regarding the video scandal and death decree issued to six people by some clerics of Kohistan.
