Defence Ministry takes notice of Asma’s allegations

RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD: The Defence Ministry has taken serious notice of allegations levelled by former Supreme Court Bar Association president Asma Jehangir. In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry said Asma had publicly accused intelligence agencies for making a plan to assassinate her. “This has been very serious allegation which should be articulated in an appropriate legal manner by her instead of raising the matter through the media,” the statement said. “It will serve her personal security and national interest that she lodges a complaint and provides the necessary evidence; only then that the matter can be properly investigated and appropriate steps would be taken,” the statement said. staff report
