CJP is last hope: Shahbaz
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Sunday that all segments of society had played their role for the restoration of judiciary and what was happening to this institution now was “deplorable”. Talking to the media, he said that Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was “the last hope for the supremacy of law and justice in the country”. The chief minister said that only judges would decide whether or not a conspiracy was being hatched against the judiciary. Shahbaz said that it was the need of the hour that the entire nation stands by the judiciary. He added the nation had got rid of “Dogar Raj” after rendering innumerable sacrifices. “[President] Asif Zardari offered that cases against us can be withdrawn if Dogar Raj was extended but we turned down this offer,” the chief minister said. staff report
