SC full court session reviews leaked video
ISLAMABAD: The full court session of the Supreme Court is underway. The session being presided over by Chief Justice Ifitkhar Muhammad Chaudhry is was briefed by the Supreme Court Registrar over the leaked videos of the Malik Riaz interview on a private news channel.
The leaked videos show the off-air conversations between Malik Riaz and anchors of the news channel.
The registrar has informed the judges that the interview was an attempt to malign the judiciary and the videos show that the questions were planted.
Chairman PEMRA Abdul Jabbar submitted the videos and report and was asked by the Chief Justice what PEMRA was doing and what action had been taken.
The Chief Justice also asked the PEMRA chairman about the media regulatory framework.
The PEMRA Chairman said that channels which violate the law are issued notices and action is taken when complaints are received.
The Chief Justice said that during the last week there were several attempts of undermine the judiciary which had been unearthed. The Chief Justice added that not it had to be figured out who was behind them.
