No evidence against Malik Riaz, Bahria Town, DHA: NABISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) spokesman Zafar Iqbal on Thursday said that NAB had no court-worthy evidences against Malik Riaz, Bahria Town or the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) to proceed against them.
Addressing a press conference, he said that in references forwarded by Rehman Malik against Sahrif brothers, a NAB investigation team had studied the material and findings would be shared with the media after approval from the executive body of the bureau.
He said that that “no details of findings could be shared with media at present”. Iqbal said that 13 cases were being investigated against high-profile personalities, whereas the investigation team of NAB comprises only five members, which results in multiple workload upon them. When NAB finds some strong evidence during an initial probe, the matter is forwarded to the executive board for further decisions, he said.
He said that the LED project initiated by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) was suspended because of lack of transparency. The NAB spokesman told the media that in the National Logistics Cell (NLC) case, investigation against three uniformed officers and one civilian were at the last stage. Led by direction general (operations), he said, a three-member committee, would chalk out a strategy with General Headquarters (GHQ), whereas NAB would also acquire the probe report of the GHQ in connection with the NLC case.
Iqbal said the NAB chairman has awarded powers to NAB director general and has formed a committee led by him to probe the issue of financial misappropriations worth Rs 26 billion in Pakistan Steel Mills. While responding to a question, the NAB spokesman was of the view that at present NAB was not reviewing any case against Malik Riaz, Bahria Town or the DHA as no evidence was provided to the bureau against them. staff report
