Aitzaz, Bukhari banned in Sindh law bars

KARACHI/RAWALPINDI: Senior lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan and Zahid Bukhari, the counsel for business tycoon Malik Riaz, have been banned from entering all bars of Sindh. Karachi Bar Association President Mehmoodul Hassan said on Saturday that both the lawyers would be responsible for consequences if they tried to enter any bar in the province. He said that President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani were behind the conspiracy against Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. He said that contempt of court proceedings should be initiated against Zahid Bukhari since no lawyer could become a spokesman for his client. He announced that lawyers would boycott court proceedings on Monday against what he said a conspiracy against the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, lawyers of Rawalpindi expressed solidarity with Justice Chaudhry and staged a protest against Malik Riaz’s allegations. The protesting lawyers also burnt effigies of some politicians. They shouted slogans in favour of the chief justice. They said that they would foil all conspiracies against the “independent” judiciary. online
