Fauzia Wahab passes away

KARACHI: PPP leader and MNA Fauzia Wahab passed away at a local hospital on Sunday night at the age of 56. She was under treatment for the past three weeks.

Fauzia underwent a successful gallbladder surgery, but couldn’t recover from post-surgery complications. She slipped into coma on Saturday and was shifted to the ICU. There are allegations of doctors’ and hospital management’s negligence and a probe has been demanded. Fauzia did full justice to her various roles in life, including that of a students’ leader, mother, housewife, manager, human rights activist and politician.

She had worked as manager at the Pakistan Industrial and Commercial Leasing, at KMC as member advisory council, as well as PPP’s information secretary. She also remained central coordinator of the party’s human rights cell. She married twice and has left behind four children. The PPP has announced 10-day mourning on Fauzia’s tragic demise. Her funeral will be held after Zuhr prayers today (Monday) at Sultan Masjid, DHA. staff report
