Democratic process must continue

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) accepts the verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) on the disqualification of Yousaf Raza Gilani, said a release issued after an emergent joint meeting of the MQM Coordination Committee in London and Karachi.

The meeting, held on Tuesday evening to decide the party stance on the situation developing in the country after the judgment of the SCP, decided to back the verdict.

It was unanimously observed that the MQM believed in the independence of judiciary and regards it with dignity. The release further said that the MQM was a democratic party and believes that the democratic process must continue in the country under all conditions. Confrontation between the institutions should be avoided at every cost, as the policy of confrontation would not be in the interest of the country. staff report
