Gilani should have resigned earlier

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday accepted decision of the Supreme Court (SC) in the speaker’s ruling case that disqualified Yousaf Raza Gilani as prime minister and member of the National Assembly.

Talking to the media, Fazl said that while nobody was indispensable, democracy should not suffer the brunt. He said Gilani should have resigned much earlier as this would have restrained the Supreme Court from passing such a verdict. He also said that the issue of appointing new prime minister was the Pakistan People’s Party’s internal matter.

The SC on Tuesday disqualified Yousaf Raza Gilani as prime minister in its short order in the NA speaker’s ruling case.

PPP and its allied parties have also announced their decision to obey the court’s order, although they expressed reservation over the verdict. online
