Indo-Pak talks on Sir Creek end without breakthrough
ISLAMABAD: Indo-Pak talks on Sir Creek ended on Tuesday without any major breakthrough and the two countries agreed to hold another round on the issue in Pakistan. The Foreign Office said that the two-day talks on Sir Creek that started on Monday in New Delhi had concluded. The two sides agreed to find an amicable solution to the Sir Creek issue through sustained and result-oriented dialogue. The two sides discussed the land boundary in the Sir Creek area and also delimitation of International Maritime Boundary between Pakistan and India. They agreed to hold the next round of the talks on Sir Creek issue in Pakistan at mutually convenient dates, to be determined through diplomatic channels. The Indian delegation was led by Surveyor General of India Dr Swarna Subba Rao. The Pakistan delegation was led by Additional Defence Secretary Rear Admiral Farrukh Ahmad. The Pakistan delegation met Shekhar Agarwal, additional secretary in the Ministry of Defence. According to the official statement, the talks were held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere. Under the resumed dialogue process between India and Pakistan, the two countries also held talks on demilitarisation of world’s top battlefield of Siachen. staff report
