Hajj corruption: Action against Hussain Asghar ordered
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has ordered action against Hussain Asghar, former IG Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) who has not rejoined the hajj corruption probe despite court orders, Geo News reported.
Earlier this month, the federal government informed the court that Hussain has been relieved of his duties in GB and would soon join the FIA hajj corruption investigations.
A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, Justice Jawwad S Khwaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain heard a suo motu case regarding the alleged corruption in Hajj arrangements in 2010.
Today, when the proceedings started, the court was informed that Hussain has not resumed probe responsibilities. On this, the CJ remarked that he is just an employee of the government and not above the prime minister. 'Stop his salary if he does not resume charge.'
