Railways land scam: NA committee directs NAB to probe former military officials

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly's Standing Committee on Railways has directed NAB to conduct an inquiry against former military officials involved in the Royal Palm Oil Club case and privatization of railway schools, Geo News reported.

The meeting was presided over by the committee's head Ayaz Sadiq here on Thursday.

The committee expressed concern over the theft of rail engine oil worth Rs. 1 to Rs. 1.5 million between Lahore and Rawalpindi and directed NAB to probe into the matter as well.

Secretary Railways informed the committee that until security assurance was provided by the Punjab government, local trains would remain suspended.

NAB officials informed the meeting that the lease of the Royal Palm Oil Club was not transparent, adding former military officials including Gen Javed Ashraf, Gen Saeed Zaffar, Gen Butt and Brigadier Akhtar were involved in it.

They further said; that the Royal Palm Oil Club has agreed on raising the lease amount of Railways land.
