Zardari disgracing PM’s office to save corruption: Imran* PTI chief says assemblies lost value after electing Raja as leader

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday said that President Asif Ali Zardari was “disgracing the prime minister’s office to save his corruption”.
He was addressing a press conference at the party’s secretariat on the occasion of religious scholar Mufti Abdul Qawi’s joining of the PTI.
Khan said that writing a letter to Swiss authorities to open cases against Zardari was a real issue. “It remains to be seen whether Prime Minister Raja Pervez Asharf will write the letter or he would be sent home by the court for violation of its orders,” he said.
To a query about contesting a by-election in NA-151, the seat which has fallen vacant after disqualification of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, the PTI chief said that his party was not fielding a candidate as a matter of principle, adding that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Abdul Qadir Gilani could be easily defeated by PTI candidate Sikandar Hayat Bosan.
“We will not become part of the assemblies which were for sale and had lost value after electing Raja Pervez Ashraf as leader,” he said.
The PTI chief ruled out any alliance with the parties protecting the status quo and announced that his party would be in the opposition if it could not get majority in parliament in general elections.
He rejected the allegation of support from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and its former chief Ahmed Shuja Pasha to his party, saying that “such baseless allegations were being levelled by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)”.
“Nisar should see the mammoth gatherings of the PTI in Lahore, Karachi and Hyderabad, rather than issuing baseless statements,” Khan said, challenging the PML-N to hold a meeting in Quetta. On the issue of load shedding, he accused both the federal and Punjab governments of irresponsibility.
