Surjeet was not an Indian spy: P Chidambaram
NEW DELHI: Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram has denied claims by Surjeet Singh that he was a spy.
Surjeet was released on Thursday and upon his arrival in India had confessed to being a spy for RAW and claimed this is why he was arrested in Pakistan.
During a news conference, Chidambaram also spoke of the arrest of Abu Jundal. The Indian Home Minister claimed that Jundal had an important role in the Mumbai attacks and had a safe haven in Pakistan.
According to Chidambaram, Jundal along with Hafiz Saeed was present in the control room at the time of the Mumbai attacks. Chidambaram also alleged that the control room could not have been set up without state (Pakistan’s) support.
