Sheikh Rasheed detained at US airport
HOUSTON/TEXAS: US immigration authorities detained Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed at the Houston airport on Wednesday evening and released him after five hours of interrogation. Ahmed was allowed to go after Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Sherry Rehman prompted the Pakistani consulate in Houston to help the veteran politician out. Following the directives of the ambassador, Pakistan’s Consul General in Houston Aqil Nadeem reached the airport to talk with the immigration authorities. Ahmed was cleared to leave the airport after five hours of detention. No details were available as to what made the US officials detain him. The Pakistani ambassador in a subsequent tweet said that she had spoken with Ahmed on the phone and that he was well. inp
