Army role except coup d’etat has been positive: PM

LAHORE: Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Saturday said that his statement about ending power outage in December 2009 was still after him and added that the rental power project matter was not understood in its true perspective.

Talking to the journalist in the Governor House here, he said that the role of the Pakistan Armed Forces except the coup d’etat has been positive.

The prime minister said that the government reply to the Supreme Court relating to writing the letter to Swiss officials would be made known on July 12. He said if all the institutions work within their constitutional parameters, then there would be no issue. All institutions including the Armed forces and parliament were reverent, he said.

PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that the patriotism of the army was beyond question, as their role has been appreciable whenever the country was struck by flood or earthquake. Army’s sacrifices in wiping out terrorism have been exemplary and laudable.

The prime minister said that it could take few days in improvement being visible in loadshedding situation. He said rental power project was not his invention instead he inherited it.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that Muslim League-N has rendered great service to democracy; we respect their mandate and added that all the stakeholders should work together. He said that the issue of the appointment of chief election commissioner would also be resolved in consultations.
