Arsalan Iftikhar case: Joint investigation team formed

ISLAMABAD: Chairman NAB Admiral (retd) Fasih Bukhari said on Saturday that joint investigating team, comprising FIA and police, been formed to probe into Arsalan Iftikhar case, Geo News reported.

Talking to media, Chairman NAB said DG financial crimes will head the JIT formed in Arsalan Iftikhar case. It will also visit London and the investigation may take some time.

He said Arsalan Iftikhar’s lawyer has sent a notice to NAB which contains threats, adding it is also a contempt of court.

Fasih Bukhari further said that corruption is the main issue prevalent in the country, adding that our society is as corrupt as the legal system. More than Rs. 6 to Rs. 8 billions corruption occurs in a day in the country, he regretted.

He said informed that NAB has recovered Rs. 235 billion till now.

Bukhari further stated that NAB is reviewing the references put forward by Rehman Malik against Sharif brothers. He added that as the election is near, political cases will not be reopened against anyone including Sharif brothers for the time being.

Speaking about the rental power case, NAB chief said Raja Pervaiz went through a question-answer session for about 3 hours before he was elected the Prime Minister. NAB has also recommended the incumbent Prime Minister’s name to be put on ECL and that investigation into the case is still underway, he added.

Complying with the court orders, investigation is also being carried out against Rs. 55 billion corruption in Ogra, Fasih Bukhari said and added that member Ogra Mansoor Muzaffar has been arrested while warrant of former chairman Tauqeer Sadiq has been issued in this case.
