PML-N parliamentary party nominates Nawaz for PM

ISLAMABAD: The parliamentary party of the PML-N has nominated Nawaz Sharif for the post of prime minister.

The meeting was chaired by Nawaz Sharif and attended by members elect of the National Assembly of the party. Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan presented the resolution for Nawaz Sharif’s nomination that was unanimously adopted.

Addressing the meeting, Mian Nawaz Sharif said that the new government would be facing a crisis-like situation and stringent measures would have to be taken to meet the challenges.

Nawaz Sharif told the parliamentary party that those who have stolen the national wealth would be held accountable. Nawaz asked the party’s parliamentarians to promise that they would not be involved in corruption nor would they tolerate it.

In the first democratic transition in the Pakistan’s history, newly elected members of national assembly took oath on Saturday. The PML-N is the majority party in the NA with 186 seats.

Nomination papers for the prime minister can be submitted by June 4, while the election will be held on the fifth.

Nawaz Sharif would become prime minister of Pakistan for the record third time after being elected from the National Assembly.
