PPP will play role of constructive opposition: Fahim
ISLAMAABAD: PPP leader Amin Fahim said Wednesday that his party would play the role of a constructive opposition in the National Assembly.
Addressing the National Assembly, Fahim congratulated Nawaz Shairf on being elected the prime minister of Pakistan for the third time. Fahim said democracy had been strengthened and all steps during the tenure of the PPP government had been taken in-line with the constitution of the country.
Fahim added that the credit for Nawaz being elected the prime minister for the third time should go to the PPP because they had introduced the amendment in the house which called for an end to the restriction on individuals being elected the prime minister for the third time.
Fahim said that when the PPP was in government, they had appointment several heads of parliamentary committees from the opposition.
The PPP leader said they would not accept any wrong decision of the government and hoped that problems facing the country such as terrorism and loadhsedding would be solved. “We will work with the government to solve problems.”
Fahim also stressed that during the tenure of the PPP there were no political prisoners and called on the new government to implement the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline.
