World assures Nawaz of cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Head of states and premiers of different countries on Thursday greeted newly sworn-in Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif on assuming the office and vowed to support him for “mutual beneficial cooperation in all fields”. President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai, Prime Minister of China Li Keqiang, President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Russian President Vladimir Putin, in separate statements, extended their best wishes and expressed the hope they would continue to work for further improvement in the bilateral relations. Karzai telephoned Sharif and felicitated him. Karzai also extended invitation to Sharif to visit Afghanistan. The statement of China Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Hong Lei, cited Premier Li Keqiang as saying his country will continue to have mutually beneficial cooperation with Pakistan. President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad felicitated Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and expressed confidence that relations between the two brotherly countries would flourish under the leadership of Sharif. In a statement of Russian embassy, Russian President Vladimir Putin also congratulated Sharif on his assumption of office of the prime minister of Pakistan. agencies
