Lyari-centric Karachi violence claims 10 lives including policemen

KARACHI: At least 10 people including 2 cops were killed in the spate of violence in Karachi on Sunday.

Police and rescue services said unknown snipers ambushed a PIB Colony police station van in Patel Para, killing two cops and injuring another.

In another incident, two bullet-riddled bodies were recovered from Bihar Colony area of Lyari town. The victims were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).

Another body with gunshot wounds was found from Garden Bhobi Ghart area.

Also in Lyari, a man and an eight years old girl Dua was killed and eight others were injured in a hand grenade attack near near Gabol Park. The bodies and injured were removed to CHK.

In Hangoorabad, again one of Lyari’s semi-restive areas, at least 3 persons were injured in another hand grenade assault. They were also shifted to the CHK.

A man died and two others were wounded in a firing incident in Hussain Hazara Goth Gulshan-e-Iqbal twon, while the body of a woman was found near Altaf Nagar, Korangi crossing area.

Lyari and adjoining areas remained tense throughout the day where police and rangers conducted a door-t-door search operation. They also arrested some suspects and began further probe. (PPI)
