Govt to end circular debt issue in 60 days: Dar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Ishaq Dar has said that the budget deficit for the next fiscal will exceed 4.7 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and expressed the government’s resolve to end the circular debt issue in 60 days.

The Finance Minister said this while addressing a press conference held to issue the Pakistan Economic Survey for the financial year 2012-13.

According to the document, the Rs2.381 trillion tax revenue target set for FY 2012-13 has so far been missed by Rs350 billion.

The Czar also expressed the government’s resolve to overcome the circular debt issue in the next 60 days.

Dar emphasized that a stable economy would lead to the elimination of terrorism in the country. He said that the war on terror had cost Pakistan between $80-100 billion dollars.

On the issue of national debt, Dar revealed that by the end of the current fiscal year its size would reach Rs 14 billion
