MQM referendum to decide party stance on PPP offer
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday announced that intra party referendum will be held on June 20 to seek opinion of party workers for joining PPP-led Sindh government. MQM chief Altaf Hussain had directed his party’s coordination committee to hold a nationwide referendum in three days to decide whether the party should join the Sindh government or sit on pposition benches in the provincial assembly.
According to statement issued by MQM, Rabita Committee would arrange referendum tomorrow (Thursday) across the country. Ballot boxes would be placed in sectors, zonal offices and party offices in Karachi, Hyderabad, and towns of Sindh along with others provinces, the statement added.
Polling will be conducted from 9 am till 5 pm across the country. The results of the referendum will be announced by MQM chief via telephonic address from London. MQM has given call for intra-party referendum call for referendum after a delegation of PPP, led by Rehman Malik, visited MQM headquarters Nine-Zero the other day and formally invited them join the Sindh government. online
