IMF, Pakistan officials meet today
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the International Monitory Fund (IMF) mission will hold policy-level
negotiations under ‘Post Program Monitoring’ today (Monday).
Details said that team of economic experts will participate in negotiations under the supervision of federal minister for Finance Ishaq Dar while Jeffrey Franks head of IMF mission will lead his team. Sources said that IMF mission has held meetings with provincial finance ministers in their visit to Lahore and Karachi, where the issues of provincial budget and taxation system of provinces under National Finance Commission Award (NFC) after the 18th amendment have been discussed with them.
IMF mission has arrived to Islamabad now, where policy level negotiations will start and economic performance of the country will be observed also. Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) along with his team will brief IMF mission on tax recoveries in the country, sources added. online
