Lawmakers concerned over Sindh Assembly security

KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution, condemning bomb attack on Justice Maqbool Baqar, Geo News reported.

The house also showed concerns over the security of the assembly.

According to details, the members of the assembly demanded the restoration of local body departments. The house also offered ‘Fateha’ for those killed in an attack on Sindh High Court (SHC) judge, Justice Maqbool Baqar’s convoy.

Expressing concerns over the security arrangements for the house, Sindh Assembly speaker Agha Siraj Durrani revealed that the intelligence agencies had reported about expected attacks on assembly, government buildings and officials, adding that he had written a letter to the Inspector General (IG) Sindh in this regard.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) parliamentary leader said that the terrorists had reached near the assembly and High Court. In response, provincial ministers, Sharjeel Memon and Nisar Khoro claimed that the government was taking steps and it did not have information about the attack, while they had increased Justice Baqar’s security.

Taking part in budget arguments, members of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Manzoor Wasan and Dr. Lal Chand rejected the ‘Kala Bagh Dam’ and demanded the Sindh’s share of water.

Opposition members demanded of the government to restore the local body system in the province.
