Altaf hints at ‘confusion’; tells workers to stay united

* MQM chief tells workers to consult Coordination Committee
and avoid taking any decision on their own

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday asked party workers to consult the Coordination Committee and avoid taking any decision on their own, in confusion.
Addressing a joint meeting of the Coordination Committee of the MQM in London and Pakistan, the founder and leader of the party, Altaf asked the workers to maintain unwavering unity among their ranks. He said that it was the need of the hour to show patience “as Allah helps those who show patience and perseverance in difficult times”. Altaf said that “unfortunate actions” were being taken at both national and international levels to break his determination and to frighten the MQM workers.
He said that the leaders, workers and sympathisers of no other Pakistani political party were meted out the same treatment. “Such tactics would not be able to diminish our resolve and determination,” he declared. He asked God to give him courage to remain steadfast in every difficult time. Altaf said he was well aware of the fact that there was a feeling of confusion among the MQM workers and the general public on some news reports. He said that the MQM had been facing difficulties and hardships for the past 35 years.
He said that thousands of MQM workers were killed and many more put behind bars but the MQM could not be broken by injustices and oppression. “The MQM workers braved difficult situations and frustrated every conspiracy against the party,” the MQM chief said. Altaf asked the MQM workers to remain determined like in the past and exhibit exemplary unity. He asked them to consult the Coordination Committee and avoid taking any decision on their own, in confusion.
Altaf said that the MQM would continue its peaceful struggle according to law. He hoped that all workers would realise the gravity of the situation and remain steadfast. He said that there is an attempt at national and international level to break his nerves and called on MQM workers to demonstrate exemplary unity. “Dedicated and brave workers are my pride,” Altaf said. He advised the workers to approach coordination committee in case of any confusion and said that it is time to show patience and tolerance. agencies
