Karachi traders paying extortion for 3 decades: MemonKARACHI: Sindh Information Minister, Sharjeel Inaam Memon addressing members of the provincial assembly on Thursday said the issue of extortion was not a new phenomenon for the metropolis where traders had been forced to pay this for the last 30 years.
“There is no secret that extortion is an issue. First it was one person collecting it, now there are ten.”
Memon added that the period from 2002-2007 was not ideal as the whereabouts of criminals released during this time were still unknown. “Over 37 criminals accused of crimes such as murder were released during this period. This was done by the then chief minister and home minister.”
The Provincial Information Minister went on to say that he had summaries to prove his claim.
