CM Sindh asks Altaf to review decisions of strike
KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has appealed Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain to review decisions for calling strikes, Geo News reported.
Speaking in the provincial assembly on Friday, Qaim Ali Shah said strikes not only affect Karachi but the entire Pakistan.
The chief minister said despite past bitterness PPP did not hit the opposition.
He asked the chief justice to provide the names of judges who face threat so that the government could provide them with bullet-proof vehicles.
Opposition leader Faisal Sabzwari said that 1979 local government system was not according to article 140 of the constitution.
Faisal said a merciless operation should be launched against illegal weapons and licensed arms be investigated, adding that MQM would not oppose it even if it was initiated from Karachi.
