For God sake, let Pakistan move forward: PM
GUJRANAWALA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Saturday earnestly urged upon his opponents to let the country move forward, Geo News reported
He said that the agenda of those making announcements from Canada and holding meetings in London was not understandable and added this had been happening for the last 65 years "For God sake, let the country now move forward."
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Nandipur power project, Nawaz Sharif said the project has been completed before his expectation despite snags as the machines required were held up for three years at the Karachi port during previous government.
Congratulating Punjab chief minister and his entire team, the prime minister said the present government completed this project in few months. He said that the foundation stones of Port Qasim and Sahiwal power projects have already been laid. Neelam Jhelum power project would soon be inaugurated. The work speed on these projects was unique in the history of Pakistan, he said.
Referring to previous government’s criminal negligence to these projects, he said that the delay due to withholding of machineries at Karachi port caused the national exchequer losses in billions. Neelum Jhelum project was another worst example of corruption and negligence of the previous government, as it was originally estimated to cost Rs84 billion and now it was going to be completed at the cost of Rs275 billion, he said.
Nawaz Sharif said that efforts were afoot to meet the expectations of the people and serve every citizen of Pakistan without any discrimination as to whom they voted.
