Musharraf shows sympathy with MQM, Altaf
'My heart, my mind and all my sympathies are with Altaf Hussain'
KARACHI – Former president Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday showed sympathies with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain, who was dramatically arrested on Tuesday from his home in North West London.
“In this time of crisis, my heart, my mind and all my sympathies are with MQM and Altaf Hussain,” he wrote a message on his popular Facebook page. The MQM leader was arrested on suspicion of money-laundering but his supporters in his home city of Karachi staged a sit-in calling for his release.
“May Allah guide the party and it’s leadership to overcome its trial and tribulations with patience, grace and dignity,” the former president said. Altaf – a British citizen – has lived in exile in the UK since 1991 after he fled Karachi and sought asylum here. “May justice prevail,” Musharraf said.
