Poll rigging probe a judicial matter: Pervaiz

LAHORE: Information Minister Pervez Rashid has said probing the election results of four constituencies is a judicial matter, not political.
He said this in his exclusive talks with a private TV channel on Saturday. He held that “politics of storming” is not a service to democracy. “Such politics is tantamount to undermining democracy,” he underlined. Why are the electoral results of 2113 not acceptable to those who had accepted rigged referendum and elections in the past, he asked. “Imran Khan is ruling Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to the elections which he is dubbing as rigging,” he remarked.
Pervaiz went on to say that public meetings and processions cannot affect the government. “What is working behind the fever of rigging is best known to Imran Khan,” he added. The minister said that any interference by the state machinery in the polls was next to impossible, and added that Imran Khan should focus on improving the performance of his government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rather than indulging in criticism.
Pervaiz Rashid said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) knows that if Nawaz Sharif can make Pakistan a nuclear power then it can also make the country an economic power. He said PIT is only raising hue and cry and is looking to spread darkness and wanted to spread chaos and keep Pakistan away from light. The minister asked if honey and milk is now flowing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after PTI’s one-year rule there.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif said Imran Khan was opposed to motorways, metro bus, dams, power projects and 3G and 4G technology in Pakistan. In a statement, he said Imran Khan was also against rise in exports and decrease in budget deficit, “as it will break his dream of becoming prime minister, as was told to him by a Canadian healer”, referring to cleric Tahirul Qadri.
