National Assembly passes resolutions condemning attacks in Karachi, Taftan

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Tuesday passed resolutions condemning the attacks in Karachi and Taftan.

The unanimously passed resolutions paid tribute to security forces personnel who were martyred in the Karachi airport attack and condemned the terrorist act in Taftan, Balochistan.

Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said the attack in Karachi took place two kilometres away from the airport. The interior minister informed parliamentarians that terrorists in two groups entered from separate gates of the old terminal and their plan was to hold the airport hostage and destroy planes.

He added that due to the swift response of security forces, terrorists were surrounded in fifteen minutes He added that the terrorists were killed within two hours of the operation.
The interior minister was also critical of coverage of the attack by some media houses saying that a code of conduct was required for live coverage.
