Process underway to acquire land for Bhasha dam: Dar

ISLAMABAD - Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has said that the approval of financial package amounting to 588 million dollars for Dasu dam by World Bank reflects the confidence of the international community on the present government.
Speaking in the National Assembly on Wednesday he said that the World Bank approved the Dasu project with hundred per cent vote and the United States also cast vote in favour of this project. He said that 4500 megawatt run of the river Dasu project would cost seven hundred billion rupees. The first phase of the project will cost four hundred billion rupees.
On Diamir Bhasha Dam, Ishaq said that fifty five billion rupees have been allocated for this project on the instruction of Nawaz. The process of land acquisition for Diamir Bhasha is currently underway. He said that due to the efforts of the present government, the international community has accepted that Pakistan does not need any NOC from any neighbouring country for this project. He said that Diamir Bhasha Dam will only generate cheap electricity but also help irrigate barren land.
The Minister dispelled the impression that the PML (N) government is undertaking Punjab centric projects. He said that Dasu dam is not located in Punjab but in Khyber Pakthunkhwa. He said that the country has been put on the path of progress under the visionary leadership of the prime minister. He said that the country will be made self reliant and developed one in accordance with this vision of the present government.
