US assures coalition support fund soon

ISLAMABAD – US Ambassador Richard Olson has held out assurance to the federal government that the remaining amount of coalition support fund will soon be released to Pakistan.
The ambassador called on Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Senator Ishaq Dar here on Saturday and exchanged views on matters of mutual cooperation and economic affairs.
Dar thanked the US for extending cooperation to Pakistan during the World Bank board meeting on the matter of WASO hydropower project. He said energy figures one among the top priorities of his government.
He said that the government was working on fast track basis for harnessing indigenous resources by toning down its reliance on imported and expensive resources. The minister exchanged views with the ambassador on 1000 power transmission project and Diamar Bhasha dam.
Olson said that the US would continue to forge partnership with Pakistan besides working for peace and stability in the region. He observed that his country wants to upgrade the existing ties with Pakistan in all the sectors of mutual interests.
The remaining amount of coalition support fund would be disbursed to Pakistan soon, he assured.
