CM Punjab orders judicial inquiry of Minhajul Quran secretariat incident
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered a judicial inquiry of the Minhajul Quran secretariat incident.
Chief Minister Sharif said he would resign if held responsible following the probe into the incident.
The chief minister has also summoned a meeting to review the situation and said that action will be taken against those who resorted to violence.
At least eight people including women were killed and seventy others injured when police and protestors clashed outside the Minhajul Quran secretariat on Tuesday.
Clashes started early Tuesday morning and continued throughout the day when Minhajul Quran workers pelted police with stones and chanted slogans against the government as law enforces tried to remove blockades outside the secretariat of the organization and residence of Dr Tarhirul Qadri.
