Military fighting for integrity of country
KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has appreciated government’s move to take action against terrorists and supported unconditionally to protect country’s physical and philosophical assets, an MQM press release issued here on Monday said. Altaf said army had started operation on government’s directives against the terrorists for the sake of country’s integrity and sovereignty. He said all the political and religious leaderships should support the operation regardless of their personal stakes. He said federal and provincial governments should take appropriate security measures for public safety to prevent any possible retaliation from the terrorists during on-going operation. He appealed to the public to keep an eye on any suspected element or any abandoned baggage. Separately, MQM leader Farooq Sattar also spoke in favour of the military operation during his speech in the National Assembly on Monday. Unlike PTI, he didn’t complain for not being taken into confidence before the launch of the offensive, though he pointed out it. In his address, Sattar stressed that the operation should not be conducted only in North Waziristan but it must be expanded to wherever Talban are hiding. “Scope of offensive should be expanded to areas including Punjab if Punjabi Talban are operating here,” he said.
